Strike Vote Meetings Set for Metro Workers

Attention Members at Metro

The Union has scheduled meetings
to conduct a strike vote
for all Metro members on

Monday, March 19
10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

This notice should be posted on your Union bulletin board as well. The notice also contains the meeting location for your store. So, please check your Bulletin Board notice for full details and attend only one meeting. You can also view the schedule below.

Your Negotiating Committee met with the employer over 13 days so far. Those dates were:

• October 25 – 26, 2017
• November 8 – 10, 23, and 24, 2017
• December 11, 2017
• January 10 – 12, 2018
• February 22 and 28, 2018.

Your current Metro agreement expired November 18, 2017. Your agreement remains in force while negotiations are ongoing.

The agreement covers about 6,500 workers at 54 stores across Ontario. At this time, your Committee is working to secure more meeting dates with the employer, and will reach out to the Ministry of Labour for the assistance of a Conciliation Officer. A Conciliation Officer assists the parties in addressing issues that have not been resolved during regular negotiations.

Remember: During bargaining, solidarity is especially important. Your Negotiating Committee members cannot share details about bargaining with you at this time. Your committee members need your support and it helps to have the encouragement of co-workers. Being positive towards your committee can go a long way in boosting morale.
